July 4th Celebration Cake

This is a 10-in round "Flag" cake. It took two boxes of Red Velvet mix and I made a "Blue Velvet cake also. I followed the guidance of a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-xccf3iCyc) and had a day of fun making and decorating this cake. I used Cream Cheese frosting made to the consistency of Buttercream Decorator's Icing.
My guests really enjoyed the taste as well as the fun of the cake itself. My wonderful neighbors also enjoyed a slice of it!
Missing at this celebration was my husband. He would have loved the gathering and the food and being with us! My son and grandsons could not come; nor could my daughter. Enjoyed their phone calls instead!

Independence Day 2020 Celebrated during the Pandemic

This is a white cake mix baked in layers of red, white and blue. It's an 11"x7" cake frosted first with buttercream icing. The flag stripes and stars are Rolled fondant.
I'm going to try my luck at mailing this cake to my daughter and friends in Newark, NJ and see if it arrives looking anything like this!

July 4 Cake Balls - A bit diffferent this time!

This is the third year I have made a cake ball flag for the 4th of July. This year we are celebrating with family instead of the neighbborhood. Just as I was about to dip 12 cakes balls in blue candy melts, I realized I should read the package very carefully. Sure enough, they were packaged in a facility where peanuts and treenuts are also packaged. So, I had to think what to do. I made this because I was sure my grandson would love it but he has an allergy to peanuts. Can't risk a peanut reaction! I took the 12 balls that would have been blue and pressed them out to make stars. I had the perfect cookie cutter. There were 24 stars. I put Graham Crackers on the tray and frosted with blue Cream cheese icing. Then I placed the first layer of stars. I put blue frosting on those and then put the 2nd star on top. I used a star tube to pipe the white frosting on the stars.
I think it was a pretty good replacement and my grandson can have the "stars" today for his dessert!

Epiphany King Cake

This is a gluten free King Cake. I made it for our Epiphany Party. It is a pastry filled with Cream Cheese and walnuts, rolled up and placed in a circle. It is frosted with purple, green and yellow "royal" colors. The person who gets the "Baby Jesus" in his or her serving becomes the king for the evening and wears the crown. That person is king for the year and plans next year's party!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is a 3-layer strawberry (not a mix!) cake with cream cheese frosting. The frosting has strawberry juice mixed in to make it a beautiful pale pink and give it a wonderful flavor. Two whole strawberries are on the top and strawberry slices are placed around the bottom edge of the cake. My sweetheart liked it a lot!
