Independence Day 2020 Celebrated during the Pandemic

This is a white cake mix baked in layers of red, white and blue. It's an 11"x7" cake frosted first with buttercream icing. The flag stripes and stars are Rolled fondant.
I'm going to try my luck at mailing this cake to my daughter and friends in Newark, NJ and see if it arrives looking anything like this!

Epiphany 2020

This is my cake for our Epiphany Open House on Epiphany Sunday, January 5, 2020! It is a 10-inch round 2-layer cake. The bottom layer is Strawberry (with red food color added to make it red) and the top layer is French Vanilla. Strawberry filling is between the layers. The top star is Rolled Fondant and the Silhouettes of the wisemen on the sides are also Rolled Fondant. The little stars are candies.

This cake is the bluest cake I have ever made. I think it represents the night sky well for the travelers. And it will turn your tongue bluegreen!

65 Years Together!

This is a 9" round 3-layer Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Icing. On top of the icing on the sides are Sugar Sheets cut to the height of the cake. The hearts are Rolled Fondant made from marshmallows. I made three shades of blue hearts. The topper ornament is Sapphire Blue with a 65th Anniversary greeting and the date of their marriage. This was made for my uncle and aunt who live in Missouri. It was a wonderful celebration of a great milestone in their lives!

Baylor Law School Graduation

My son graduated from Baylor Law School on Feb. 6, 2010. His cake is a 10"x14" "book" with a "post-it" note on the front. He requested a white green Jello cake. The cake has butter cream icing topped with marshmallow fondant as the book cover. The word "lawyer" is a marble look from marshmallow fondant. He placed 126 gummy bears on it, representing the 126 quarter hours required to complete law school. Green is one of the Baylor colors.

Dulce DeLeche Cake

This cake is "Dulce de Leche" from a Buenos Aires, Argentina cake mix, covered with rolled fondant icing. This was a project I worked on with Amy when she spent Christmas and New Year's with us. I was able to show her how rolled fondant works, and this was the first rolled fondant bow for both of us! She did an amazing job!
